The Catharine and Canning Street and Catharine and Upper Parliament Street junctions will also be upgraded to incorporate active travel friendly equipment.
In additional the existing pedestrian crossing at the Myrtle Street/Crown Street junction is required to be upgraded to a Sparrow Crossing in addition to delivery of segregated cycle lane from the existing pedestrian crossing to the junction with Falkner Street.
Route 7 is focused on the Baltic Triangle area and consists of active travel interventions at the following locations:
• Kent Street modal filter upgrade
• Kent St/Upper Pitt St modal filter upgrade
• Upper Pitt Street modal filter upgrade
• Upper Pitt St/Nelson St modal filter upgrade
• Jamaica Street/Parliament Street/Grafton Street junction active travel improvements
• Hill Street active travel improvements

Why is active travel important?
Without marked & visible designated places for pedestrians to cross and cyclists to cycle, they become at risk of being injured by cars. By redesigning the road and segregating sections for specific users, there is a reduction of risk of accidents and collisions.
