Overview

A580 Lancaster Road & Worsley Road, Salford

The importance of the A580 East Lancashire Road corridor for general traffic has been recognised and the scheme will improve junction efficiency and capacity, along with a safer walking environment with new footways and controlled crossings. The scheme also enhanced bus-stop facilities and provided enhanced uncontrolled pedestrian and cycling crossing points.
The works within this scheme will include but are not limited to the following:
• Stop lines repositioned to improve capacity.
• New traffic signal arrangements and timing review to improve efficiency.
• Improvements to controlled and uncontrolled crossing points.
• Carriageway widening to alleviate waiting traffic on Lancaster Road
• New footway construction and surfacing.
• Bus stop enhancements to improve accessibility.
• Carriageway resurfacing, including skid resistance application.
