Overview

Dorchester STW, Oxon.

SPI Piling were employed to supply and install a sheet pile retaining wall alongside an existing Thames Water structure.
The wall was required to create standing space alongside the structure for vehicles without blocking the main access road to/from the site.
The access road is quite narrow with mature trees running alongside the site boundary so SPI used their 30T excavator with side grip vibrating hammer to install the piles.
Once installed SPI’s welders supplied and fitted a capping channel to the to of the sheet pile wall to give a uniform finish to the wall.
The excavator also had a Safe Load Indicator fitted so also undertook all the lifting duties to unload the sheet piles on arrival and to unload and position the capping channel.
Kier were undertaking a lot of other works on the site and during the installation of the piles it was necessary for the excavator to block the site access road.
However a good working relationship between SPI, Kier and their other contractors meant all works were completed safely and agreed work plans each day meant no one experienced an unnecessary delays.
