Overview

Crowle Attenuation Tank, Lincolnshire

SPI Piling Ltd, were employed by CPC Civils Ltd, to install a temporary cofferdam (89.2m x 12.0m) for a large Attenuation Tank in Crowle, Scunthorpe.

SPI Piling Ltd, supplied & installed 290 nr 11m & 72 nr min 12.5m L605/GU21n sheet piles to form a temporary cofferdam for the New Crowle Attenuation Tank & Wet Well Area.

As the excavation levels in the Wet Well Area were lower than the Tank level, for this reason 12.5m long piles were required, the Wet Well excavation was lower to allow the installation of New Outfall Chambers. Planned on 2 nr ABI Telescopic Leader Rigs being mobilised plus 35T Kobelco 350 excavator for offloading and pitching.

Overall piling installation visit quoted as 4.0 weeks for 2 nr rigs. Framing - top frame supplied and installed by SPI Piling Ltd, 60% in first visit, then most of 1st visit framing removed then re-installed into the remainder of the cofferdam.

The internal and external water levels were required to be lowered by De-Watering Methods which could not be achieved, therefore the Frame was re-designed to cater for the external water pressures.
