Overview

Lovely Lane CYCLOPS Junction Scheme, Warrington

This Cyclops junction was the first of its type constructed within Warrington on a busy junction with a local school, hospital, businesses, and the town centre all within close proximity to the scheme. AEY provided full time traffic management team to ensure the traffic flows were maintained where practicable and any emergency vehicles had no delays during the construction phase.
We constructed the scheme in phases with the east and south quadrants first along with the street lighting road crossings followed by the west and north quadrants whilst maintaining single lane of traffic managed with 4-way traffic and 2-way pedestrian temporary signals to ensure the continued safe use for all road users.
The scheme involved the following activities.
 Site clearance
 Drainage including gullies and channel kerbs
 Street lighting ducting, chambers, and road crossings
 Kerbs, edging and tactile installation.
 Street lighting installation
 Traffic signal and loop installation
 Road markings
 Coordination with multi service diversion contractors
The surfacing works were undertaken on full closures in the evenings with a short working window of 7pm – 11pm due to the locality of the scheme and close proximity to residential properties. This short working window required some planning with all parties and monitoring throughout the surfacing works to ensure expectations were met.
The scheme was completed on time and within budget.
