Colintraive Slipway, Isle of Bute

SPI Piling Ltd Installed steel pile tubes to form the foundations for the temporary slipway at Colintraive Ferry Terminal.
The installation was carried out to tie in with the tide levels, with a 7 to 9 hour working window to enable the piles to be installed before high tide covers the stone platform.

Installation of 20nr 610/17.5mm tubes installed in 2nr sections to form the foundations for the temporary slipway at Colintraive Ferry Terminal.
The installation was carried out to tie in with the tide levels, within a 7 to 9 hour working window to enable the piles to be installed before high tide covers the working area.

The tubes were be offloaded and pitched using a telescopic 100t crawler crane.
The 20m leader rig installed 20nr 18.3m long 610/17.5mm steel tubes.

Pile extensions were lifted onto the installed tubes and welded in situ. The pile extensions ranged from 2.0m to 6.5m. The piles connection were full penetration butt weld. Piles were driven onto the rock to ensure that the required load is achieved. Dynamic tests were carried out to confirm that the pile loads had been achieved.
