Scrabster OLA Pier

Awarded in July 2020 by Main Contractor R J McLead, the works are to carry out the Piling and Tie Bar installation for the upgrading of the Ola Pier at Scrabster Harbour.

The £18.5m project involves the reconstruction and redevelopment of the existing St Ola Pier and deepening of the inner and outer berths of the pier to allow larger vessels to dock, and partial demolition of the existing pier will be required to allow for the construction of new pier walls and concrete decking.

The works consist of the installation of over 400 lin meters of CHS/Z section Combi and Steel Sheet Piling Walls around the existing Pier to provide better berthing and loading facilities within the harbour. Over 3,700te of piles delivered direct to site from supplier in Europe by vessel. Supply and installation of tie bar scheme for the permanent works. The works have been carried out on 2 fronts in conventional methods off of the existing pier utilising our piling gates supported by 300 & 160te crawler cranes.
