What started off as seven separate Highways England schemes was, through collaborative Value Engineering, repackaged into one project across seven full weekend closures to minimise disruption and costs. Works undertaken included;
Excavation
Kerbing
Ironwork
Hardstandings
Footways
Landscaping works
Watermain diversion for United Utilities
As Principal Contractor we co-ordinated Health and Safety of Highways England's Construction Works Framework community across the project, mitigating the effects of storm Callum and protecting finds from the Roman Era. Over 20,000 tonnes of asphalt was laid and 19,000 tonnes of planings removed on the first weekend using seven road planers, over 120 traffic management staff and four machine surfacing gangs. The project was carried out under Option C of the NEC suite of contracts.
