Stretford Public Realm Improvements Phase 1, Trafford

Works order through the Bolton Highways Framework adopted by Trafford MBC. Junction improvement and public realm works to the very busy A56 Chester Road dual carriageway/A5145 Edge Lane junction in the centre of Stretford, adjacent to the busy Stretford Mall shopping centre. Works undertaken included the infilling of 3 subways, upgrade ex traffic signal controlled junction including carriageway widenings, surfacing/resurfacing, new footways/cycleways, co-ordination of utility diversions by the statutory undertakers, pedestrian barriers, new lighting columns and feature lighting, high quality street furniture, hard and soft landscaping. Extensive local PR activities with all third parties likely to be affected by the works including businesses, residents, Trafford Highways, emergency services, bus operators etc., phased working, night-time working under road closures (duct crossings, junction resurfacing, anti-skid surfacing and road lining), dynamic traffic/pedestrian management.
