A E Yates Trenchless Solutions Ltd were awarded the contract to install new potable water mains at Long Load in Somerset using the Horizontal Directional Drilling Method. Two 250mm SDR11 ducts each 140m long were installed followed by a short move across the fields to install further two drills 90m long within a designated easement. The new water main pipes were then provided and welded by our customer.
The two 140m drills were installed at roughly 45 degrees to a bridge under the arch abutments. They were installed at 8m depth using environmentally friendly drilling fluid to ensure that any fish would not be affected in the event of any leakage. The Environment Agency monitored our operation and no issues were found.
This project was finished on time and to budget for a satisfied customer.
