Overview

New Boathouse

SPI were awarded the piling scheme by MPM Northwest Ltd to carry out the design, supply and installation of steel tubes form the foundations for a new boathouse on Derwent water on the Lingholme Estate. There where 15nr 273mm diameter steel tubes x 8.0m installed through the soft peat & silts with the piles founding 3.0m m into the underlying rock. The installation works were carried out over 1nr visit with the steel tubes installed using the SPI 35t excavator and MG90 Grizzly side grip attachment. A DX25 impact hammer was used to drive the piles to the required socket with dynamic load testing carried out to confirm that our design complied with the loading specification.

SPI Piling Ltd and MPM Northwest Ltd have worked closely on previous projects and have built good working relationship which has enabled piling schemes to be planned well with value engineering taking place at early estimating stage to ensure that the schemes where built on time and on budget.
