An informative and highly rewarding day was enjoyed by all, as members of 509 STRE Squadron Royal Engineers, visited SPI Piling Ltd, for specialist training in sheet piling installation using readily available equipment.

The visit to SPI Piling Ltd.’s headquarters provided the team with valuable insight into the techniques, planning considerations, and practical challenges associated with sheet piling operations. Through a combination of classroom-based instruction and hands-on practical experience, the Royal Engineers gained a deeper understanding of the processes involved, from site preparation and equipment selection to overcoming common installation issues.

The training highlighted the importance of innovation, adaptability, and working with commercially available equipment to deliver effective engineering solutions.

Opportunities such as this strengthen the relationship between industry and defence, ensuring military engineers can benefit from the expertise and experience developed within the civil engineering sector.
