Overview

Division Lane Blackpool

The Division Lane junction improvement scheme was delivered through the Civils and Surfacing Framework with Blackpool Council.

The scheme was located behind Blackpool Airport on the link road between Blackpool and Lytham St Annes and replaced an existing junction.

Prior to starting on site, trial holes identified an asbestos cement water main within the proposed works. A E Yates Ltd working with United Utilities team and guidelines, implemented non vibration methods of constructing the proposed drainage, carriageway and footway works ensuring the water main was not disturbed during/as a result of the construction phase whilst also using vibration monitoring throughout.

A E Yates Ltd used our supply chain contacts to re-design the carriageway construction to include a geogrid which reduced the construction depths and increased the space between the proposed works and the water main reducing any risk of disturbance.

Many unforeseen services clashes were identified during the drainage installation and the A E Yates team were quick to resolve with the client’s nominated designers with alternative proposals to mitigate any critical path delays.

As part of A E Yates Ltd social values commitment to our client, we donated £800 to the Broadway Stars Morris Dancers who were struggling to fund a venue and costumes for an upcoming event.
