SPI Piling Ltd, were engaged by M & Y Maintenance & Construction for the installation of 2nr permanent steel sheet pile retaining walls consisting of 184nr GU16N sheet piles varying in length of 6.0 to 12.5m. The sheet piles were designed for a retained height varying from 1.5 to 4.0m with the sheet piles working in cantilever. The sheet piles enabled M & Y Maintenance & Construction to carry out split level construction for a new property development on phase 2 of their site. The works where carried out in 1nr visit using a pile press serviced by a 55t mobile crane. The pile press was selected due to the location of the sheet piled wall required to be installed 0.8m from the edge of the existing buildings resulting in a vibration free method being required.

Careful planning and coordination was required on site due to the access constraints into site which resulted in all deliveries being carried out using rigid or rear steer vehicles. To enable the efficient installation of the piles, SPI Piling Ltd, worked very closely with M & Y Maintenance & Construction project teams to plan and schedule the work on a daily basis with the installation works .

SPI Piling Ltd, carried out the design, supply and installation of the sheet piles. The sheet pile installation was carried out in 2.5 weeks.
